Spiced coffee spritzer
For the spiced simple syrup
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 units cinnamon stick
1 unit star anise
2 units cardamom pods, lightly crushed
3 units all spice berries
for the mocktail
1 1/2 oz spiced simple syrup
3 oz Freshly brewed espresso, cold
a dash orange bitters
1 oz lemon juice
1/3 cup Carbon8 sparkling water
To a small saucepan add sugar, water, cinnamon stick, star anise, cardamom pods and all spice berries . Bring the mixture to a boil, cooking until sugar is dissolved.
Remove from heat, cover, and let steep for 30 minutes. Strain the syrup into an airtight container and chill until at least room temperature before using.
In a tall glass with ice combine the spiced simple syrup, espresso, orange bitters and lemon juice.
Top with Carbon8 sparkling water and enjoy.
